Red Star
strike corvette

First to the archives
For several years, the Interstellar Alliance needed to renew its fleet. The White Stars were running out, and those that were still in service were exhausting their resources. The situation with the Victories was similar, but it was easier with the larger ships, as the Platri class cruisers came into service. They were powerful enough, but still small in number and largely intended for patrolling.
When the Ranger ship shortage became a problem, the Master Caste designed a new ship, hoping to get an order from the Interstellar Alliance. However, that didn’t happen. The Alliance Council was in no hurry to allocate funds to strengthen the Rangers. Especially recently the Platri class cruiser was put into production, which should reliably defend the borders of the Interstellar Alliance. These circumstances forced the Masters to archive the Red Star project.

The rage machine
After the Battle of Minbar, Minbari society was hurt and outraged. They demanded that the Grey Council take drastic measures to defend their territories, which led to the launching of an expanded military construction program unlike anything they had ever seen before. In addition to rebuilding the numbers of the lost Neroon class heavy cruisers, several ship designs that had been lying in the pockets of Minbari gunsmiths were realized at once. One such project was the Red Star class strike corvette.
After the attack of Aggressor-2338 attacked, there was an urgent need to quickly rebuild the missing parts of defense capability. The White Stars and Blue Stars belonged to the Rangers, they were few in number, and there was no point in relying on them. What was needed was a new small, maneuverable warship, capable of competing with any enemy, of being at the tip of the spear in the coming war. And since the design for such a ship was already on the shelf, the Grey Council was not squeamish about it. Thus, in 2340, the Red Star class corvette went into production and was intended primarily for the Minbari fleet, though some of it was to go to the Rangers as well.
Born to fight
The Red Star class attack corvette was designed as a more powerful and modern analog of the White Star. Equipped with the latest technologies, it surpassed its predecessor in all parameters, except, perhaps, maneuverability. Its firepower was enough to destroy destroyers and even cruisers. The proven tactics of group attacks, well practiced on the White Stars, were also expected to play an important role in the combat use of this ship.

Presence in the fleet
At the beginning of the year 2343, 54 vehicles had been built. The first four units were used as training and prototypes. Forty became part of the Minbari fleet. The last ten were handed over to the Rangers without any special ceremonies. Production of this ship continues.
