Reasons for development

The Centauri Republic started developing drones a long time ago. However, the work in this area had been rather sluggish for a long time. That all changed after the Drakh war. First, the heavy losses forced the Centauri to rethink the conduct of the war and take more care of their pilots. Secondly, the Shadow technology that the Drakhs had gotten, and then the Centauri had gotten, allowed them to make a technological leap forward. And the main thing was the political decision to throw the necessary forces into the development of the drone.

Requirements

The main requirements for the drone were: small size, high maneuverability and sufficient autonomy. The main area of application was maneuvering combat against enemy fighters, swarm attacks against large ships and the ability to conduct reconnaissance in the area of the carrier ship.

Production and operation

Start of production

In 2311, the first serial drones of the Xoeni class began to arrive in the navy. In 2311, the first Xoeni-class drones began to arrive in the navy, first of all on the Tavair-class small aircraft carriers, the second series of which was under construction.

A drone with experience

Over the 30 years of operation, the Xoenis had proven themselves to be good and reliable combat vehicles. Of course, there were difficulties at first, but over time they were all eliminated, and now the Centauri could rely on a fairly large number of drones in the fleet.

Total produced

As of 2341, the Royal Navy had 988 Xoeni-class drones at its disposal. The active construction of the fleet that began in 2342 also implied a dramatic increase in the number of drones.
