Reason for development
For a long time Starfuries of various versions and modifications served faithfully in defense of Earth and its colonies. Later they were joined by Thunderbolts. However, as time went on, with the founding of the Interstellar Alliance, the development of technology was rapid, and a new main fighter was needed, which could absorb these new technologies.
And so project Thunderer was born.
Internal values
The “Thunderer” is similar to its predecessors in its layout, but has significant differences, primarily in its equipment.
Thus, the survivability of the vehicle and the pilot’s survivability are increased due to the armored capsule, in which the pilot is located. The fighter hull itself is better armored than its predecessors. The autopilot and inertia dampeners have been significantly improved. Of course, the fighter has new scanners, sensors, guidance and navigation systems.

Pilot survivability
The new power and life support system allowed for a significant increase in the fighter’s autonomy, as well as the pilot’s survivability after ejection.
Maneuverability
Like its predecessors, the Thunderer relies on high maneuverability and speed. To achieve this, it has 4 powerful engines, giving it an acceleration advantage over almost any other fighter.
Needle light missiles
In addition to onboard pulse cannons, the Thunderer is armed with four lightweight Igla missiles designed to engage maneuverable small targets: fighters, attack aircraft, scouts, shuttles and transports. In addition, this type of missile is capable of targeting the vulnerabilities of larger ships.
Presence in the fleet
Production of the Thunderer began in the year 2303. The fighter began to arrive en masse to the fleet, replacing Thunderbolts and Starfuries. Despite its higher cost, tens of thousands of units were produced.
