Gemini
light cruiser

Lust for profit
When the Interstellar Alliance was formed, and many races, having not only the space devastated by the war, but also the gravitational technology of Minbar, began to expand their borders. Earth also decided to seize the opportunity to grab what was lying around. The newest Warlock class destroyers at the time were powerful and quite expensive. In addition, due to access to more advanced gravity technology and some design tweaks caused by some “political” decisions, the Warlocks went for modernization. Meanwhile, for expansion, Fleet Command ordered a smaller, cheaper, and faster ship from Rocketdyne, capable of quickly appearing anywhere in space to defend Earth’s interests, and later supplementing the Warlocks’ combat capabilities as part of a fleet. Thus was born the Gemini class light cruiser.

The little Warlock
It was a vastly simplified version of the Warlock, but had enough armament to strike fear into not the strongest of opponents. In 2268, the first cruisers joined the fleet and immediately took over the tasks of the outdated Hyperion class heavy cruisers.
During their service, Geminis were modernized, receiving new navigation, weapons control, tracking systems, and new missiles. The light cruisers became excellent patrol ships guarding the borders of the Earth Alliance.

Characteristics

Maneuverability
The Gemini class is characterized by the fact that it has a powerful propulsion system that provides excellent acceleration and good maneuverability. This allows the cruiser to fight larger opponents, outflanking them.
In spite of
Although light cruisers were developed fairly quickly, they took a lot from their older Warlock class brethren, thus becoming a successful enough unit to fit well into Earth’s doctrine.

Presence in the fleet
As of 2341, the already aged light cruisers were still available to Earth in the number of 29 units.

Author: Amras Arfeiniel

Description: We already had a lot of ship models, but Amras’ work was always pleasing to the eye, so we asked him to provide a model for our project, in order to fit this ship into the Earth fleet. We modernized the model a bit to make it look more harmonious, in our opinion.
