Background
In the early 2270s, having lost a large number of ships first in the Civil War, then in the war against the Drakh, the Earth Alliance received new technology from the Interstellar Alliance and began to rebuild its armed forces.
While the Warlock class heavy destroyers and Gemini class light cruisers compensated well for the need for larger ships, there were no candidates to replace the aging Olympus class corvettes. In this regard, a tender was announced for the development of a small warship. It was won by the company “Hyperspace Industries” with the project of a small and heavily armed gunboat class “Monsoon”.
From gunboat to transport
Later, the production of the large series was abandoned, due to the inability of this ship to independently open the jumppoint and quickly outdated technology. However, the company “Hyperspace Industries” did not want to miss its chance and tried to save the contracts with the Earthforce, in 2283 offered its own version of a small military transport, equipped not only with modern technology, but also able to use hyperspace independently, which for a ship of this size at the time was quite revolutionary.

Purpose
The Monsoon class small transport is designed for transportation of military equipment or troops, and is capable of participating in battle as a fire support for large ships and covering the rear.
For this purpose, the double-deck vessel has all the necessary equipment and facilities.
Loading and unloading can be carried out through a large ramp at the stern, 2 hatches on the sides, 1 large hatch at the bottom or through a docking sluice in case the transport cannot fly into the hangar by itself.
Presence in the fleet
Between 2285 and 2315, 700 transports of this class were built. Until the Uranus class frigates entered service in 2295, most of the military small cargo transportation lay on this small workhorse. As of 2341, there were still 681 Monsoons in service.

Description: The Monsoon class transport was invented by us a long time ago on the basis of a ship found on the Internet called Monzun gunboat. The author of that ship is Lars Jereteg. Thanks to that particular design and on the basis of it, we made our own transport. Even the name and the history of creation reflect the connection with the original.
