While creating the Darkstar class ships, it became clear that such a ship needed support, a small ship capable of flying some missions on its own, landing on planets, serving as a transport for the crew when visiting other spaceships, supporting the mothership as a vanguard or rearguard.
Given the fact that the Darkstars had no fighter wing of their own, the new shuttle had to take on this task as well, so it was armed enough to be able to cover the mothership in combat, diverting some of the fire to itself or allowing the crew to evacuate.
Particle of Darkness
The Kinsha is made using the same technology as the Darkstar. It has a fairly high autonomy and range compared to ships of similar size. The name for the shuttle was also chosen not randomly. The word “Kinsha” from Minbari translates as “shadow warrior”.
